Well, it's official. After only four weeks of "school," Teagan has started to say "mo" instead of "mas."
For the first year of Teagan's life, we participated in a nanny-share with another family that had a boy only one month older than Teags. While it had its challenges re: nanny time-off, nanny taxes, etc., we really enjoyed our experience and were thrilled to have more individualized care, and a nanny who only spoke Spanish to the kiddos.
It was with mixed emotions that we decided to take a spot in the daycare located at Sean's office when they called us off the wait list. Yep, wait list. We'd been on it for over a year. Daycare in DC is ridiculous in that way, not to mention the cost. We could probably rent two apartments in Texas for what we pay in childcare on a monthly basis. But, I can't complain. We love our jobs and we love our baby, so we make it work.
Since starting "school" (as we like to call it), Teagan has been talking more and more each day- in English, not Spanish, of course. And while I'm a little saddened by the disappearance of her bilingual skills, not to worry! We always have the option of getting on the wait list for the Spanish immersion elementary school!! [As I roll my eyes and laugh awkwardly for approval. You know we're gonna do it.]
Obviously, Teags can't speak full sentences or anything but we've definitely had a back and forth convo recently. It went something like this:
Me: [singing....] Twinkle, twinkle, little star....
T: Bravo!!
Me: Thank you, Teagan.
T: Mo, mo, mo.
Me: You want me to sing more?
T: [shaking head up and down] Yesh.
Me: Oh! Twinkle, twinkle, little star...
It was brilliant and she is a genius. I can already tell.

| And finally, this amazed me. I was worried that she wouldn't take to the cot easily. But she did! I love going there when all of the kids are sleeping on these. It's the cutest thing ever. |
