road trip!

For our first mommy-daughter road trip, Teagan and I packed up the car and drove 2 1/2 hours to visit Sean in Charlottesville, VA. Sean recently got invited to attend a two-week U.S. Army JAG training on government contracts. It was quiet a generous opportunity given that government employees aren't allowed to spend like, any money on anything. (sequester, scandals, etc.)

The school is on the campus of the University of Virgina, one of the nation's oldest universities, founded by Thomas Jefferson (note the building below, in his famous & favorite architectural style). Although we were only there for a short amount of time, we had a great time exploring the campus and eating at some fine local joints. Here are some of our faves from the weekend:

Apparently, UVa has some crazy-old secret societies.

Future Valedictorian?

the.best. hush puppies and biscuits.
Cheers!!

Quirky-fun, traditionally southern brunch. Cheese grits, anyone?

Teagan's first big-girl cup of milk. This was near disaster.

All in all our solo-parent first road trip was a success! Looking forward to many more with this fun little lady.
