easter

We had a great first Easter with Teagan. On Friday and Saturday she was really fussy, so I wasn't sure if we'd be able to do the things that we planned. As it turns out, she must have just been having a growth spurt or something, because she pretty much slept through all of our activities on Sunday.

We started the day really early, at 4:50. Sean picked up our friends, Nate and Lauren, and then we headed downtown to the Lincoln Memorial for a sunrise service put on by the Capital Church (it was their 34th installment!). We got there by 6:00 and it was already packed. They estimate about 6,000 people attend each year. Luckily, we were there early enough to grab seats. I kept Teagan in the Ergo carrier and she slept through service, all snuggled up in her cute pink bear suit.
The stage was set up facing the Lincoln Memorial, just in front of the reflecting pool.

It was pretty freezing with the wind, but it was great to be awake so early and to share in the joy of what Easter represents with so many people in our nation's capital.

We always have fun with our friends, Nate and Lauren. Lauren is studying to be a pediatrician and she is wonderful with Teagan. We decided that her nickname will be Dr. LoLo. Nate is Sean's friend from law school. After graduation, he will be working for a firm here in DC. We're excited that they will be sticking around  DC for a while, too.

This next picture is kinda weird, I know. I was having fun with a new app. on my phone.

After the service, we came back to our apartment and had an amazing! brunch. Sean's sister and her husband introduced us to Aebleskivers a couple of years ago. We'd never been successful at making them until this brunch! I think we decided that Nate's whipping of the egg yolks made all the difference. Here's a pic of how they turned out:

In case you are wondering, they are basically like fried pancake balls. Great with Nutella, your syrup of choice, or sprinkled with a little powdered sugar!

After brunch, we went to Eastern Market in the Capitol Hill neighborhood. Eastern Market is an outdoor market that sells cool art, fresh veggies, etc. Think of it as a farmer's market, but bigger? Anyway, we ended up buying some cool old maps for Sean's office and one watercolor map (print) of our neighborhood (Adams Morgan) for Teagan. Since we won't always live here, we thought it would be cool for her to have a map of her first 'hood. We had a great conversation with the artist, who happens to live around the corner from us. Here's a link to her page: http://www.marybelcher.com/

We were pretty exhausted by late afternoon, so we ended up taking a family nap to finish out the day!

It was dark, so this pic turned out blurry. Why am I always the last one to fall asleep? :-)

I hope you all had a nice weekend with family and loved ones. We are, continuously blessed.
